Snapdragons (antirrhinum majus) are a perennial flower whose name comes from the Greek term meaning “noselike” because of its resemblance in appearance to the face of a dragon. A leafy stem of snapdragons contains multiple blooms and some grow between 24-36 inches long. The blooms open from the bottom up and come in a wide variety of colors including white, yellow, orange, red, purple, pink, lavender and burgundy as well as bicolor varieties. The petals have soft, ruffled edges and the flower gives off a subtle scent. There is a natural curve at the top of the stem lending it a whimsical air. They are available year round.
